To crown the second set of WDRA World Champions, the event moved to Montgomery International Dragway to provide more of a centralized location for the increasing number of WDRA racetracks. The WDRA Summit World Championships, presented by SunCoast Performance, featured two days for qualified racers to get familiar with the facility before diving into the most crucial race of the season. Thursday opened with a Test and Tune session, followed by a Pit Vehicle Race in which Trey Goodson cashed in on day one. Caden Meuth Claims Big Check on the Final Day of the 4th Annual Mike Smith Memorial Race; Cynthia Quick Finishes as Runner-Up
The 4th Annual Mike Smith Memorial Race concluded with Caden Meuth taking home the final $20,000 prize after 10-rounds of competition. In the final round of the main event, Meuth defeated Cynthia Quick to secure the win. Doug Foley was the lone semi-finals. Timmy Smith, who nearly achieve-back victories, fell short in the quarter-finals along with KC Pesnel. Up next is the Great American $500K Bracket Race as entries are available for the main event and the Triple 40βs.
**Jeremy Hancock Wins Saturdayβs $20,000 Main Event at Mike Smith Memorial Race; Fuller Takes $5,000 Duck Race Victory**
Montgomery, AL β This weekend, racers honored local legend Mike Smith, with a memorable victory by his close friend Jeremy Hancock. Hancock claimed the $20,000 top prize on Saturday after defeating Lester Adkins in an all-dragster final. Veteran racer Buddy Ferrell reached the semifinals but lost after a .002 red light and a dead-on-one run against Adkins. Stephen McCrory and Ty Farmer rounded out the quarterfinalists. In the second-chance Duck Race, Kholten Fuller drove his fatherβs Mopar Duster to victory, winning the $5,000 prize after beating Josh Jarrell in the final round.
Mikey Morris Claims Day 1 $20,000 Main Event in a Door Car at the 4th Annual Mike Smith Memorial Race; Fuqua Runner-Up
Montgomery, AL β The first day of the $20,000 Main Event kicked off at Montgomery International Dragway, bringing racers together to pay tribute to Mike Smith, whose contributions to the drag racing community were deeply felt. Mikey Morris from Ellenwood, GA, took home the cash prize and a large check after defeating Blake Fuqua in the final round. He completed ten rounds to reach the winnerβs circle. Donny Burleson was the lone semi-finalist, while Trampus Stewart and Warren Cupp were the quarter-finalist.
